The PMHS Orchestra, Bands and Chorus delighted audiences all week during their annual winter concerts. The performances began with the orchestra conducted by Dr. Michele Zanky. Selections included “Trio Sonata” (Gallo/Monday), “Symphony #8 in G Major” (Dvorak/Parrish), and a medley “Best of Queen” (Mercury/Zanky).

Next up was the Choral Concert on December 18, conducted by Maria Abeshouse. The Chamber Chorus opened with “Come Again” (John Dowland) as one of its four selections. Performances by the Concert Chorus included a Holiday Medley and a song to honor teacher Tom Roksvold who passed away last summer titled “Precious Gifts” written teacher Eric Katz. The AcaPelicans, a student led group, sang “Cantique de Jean Racine” (Gabriel Faure) and Isaac Blackburn soloed on piano with “Angel Medley.” The concert concluded with PMHS graduates joining in to sing “Hallelujah from Messiah.”

The December 19 Band Concert, directed by Andrew Van Bochove, began with the jazz band performing “Ginger Bread Boy” (Jimmy Heath) as one of its four songs, which also included “When the Saints Go Marchin’ In.” The Concert band the took then stage for four selections including “A Day at the Zoo” (James Curnow) and “Sleigh Ride” (Leroy Anderson), which featured several alums returning to perform with the band.
